International Consultancy: Child Protection Information Management Systems Consultant, ESARO (Remote)

To provide a continuum of services (UNICEF CPSS intermediate outcome 3.2.3.) and successfully deliver on the Collective Focus Area to Address Violence against Girls, Boys and Women and SDGs 16.2 and 5.2, Child Protection actors and governments across East and Southern Africa require dedicated case management information management support as a core component of administrative data strengthening. The ESARO Child Protection Section seeks a Regional Child Protection Specialist (Child Protection Information Management Systems) to support Country Offices in ESAR with specific expertise in integrated Child Protection information management tools and platforms, including Primero/CPIMS+ and GBVIMS+. Recognizing that strengthening child protection systems is critical to meaningful and sustainable development for children, and that implementing and advancing the maturity of integrated information management systems is a key impact pathway in UNICEF’s system strengthening strategy, the consultant will directly contribute to mainstreaming this strategy (https://www.unicef.org/documents/child-protection-systems-strengthening). This forms part of a larger process of strengthening the availability, quality and timeliness of child protection data, which is a direct response to the request from Country Offices in the region who have initiated information management system strengthening work at the national level with government partners and other actors, and require technical support and guidance to continue to carry the work forward in a coordinated, contextually appropriate, sustainable and technically robust manner.

The overall purpose of this engagement is to trigger a sense of urgency amongst political leaders, policy makers, development partners, influencers, and communities to lead and ensure effective implementation of transformative actions to end learning poverty amongst school going children in SADC member states Africa. This partnership is in the spirit of Learning coalition (BMGF, FCDO, The World Bank, UNESCO, UNICEF, USAID) which was formed in 2022 with a shared commitment to improving foundational learning for all and a desire to work together towards reducing the alarmingly high rate of learning poverty globally. Further, UNICEF, SADC, PAL Network and BMGF have come together to support SADC member states to fast-track impactful actions to reverse learning poverty in the region.

International Consultancy: Junior Consultant Supporting Green Yoma and ADDA, ESARO-Remote

Scaling of both ADDA and Green Yoma will need a dedicated consultant who accompanies the ADDA use cases in line with Green Yoma projects from a human centered design perspective to allow ADDA graduates to transition into green employment. The consultant will have an understanding of Yoma’s “learning to earning” concept and work experience in talent management, bring theoretical expertise in the psychological development of youth, as well as work experience in behavioral change of young people (e.g. through volunteering), and a design thinking background to support green Yoma’s work in just transition. The consultant will also support the creation of media content.

Innovation Scaling Lead Consultant for a DPG Incubator of the African Drone and Data Academy, ESARO

To meet a growing demand for scaling of the academy, a potential avenue is to adopt a scalable and sustainable “ADDA light” business model that can operate nationally even in fragile contexts. The foundation for an open source approach has already been laid through close work with the DPG alliance to register the curriculum as a Digital Public Good. ADDA’s intellectual property (IP) belongs to UNICEF, and part of the curriculum has been made available as massive open online courses (MOOCs) which have been nominated as DPGs and are in the process of being registered as DPGs.

Business Specialist Consultant for a scalable DPG Incubator of the African Drone and Data Academy

Activities included the support for the establishment of an African Drone and Data Academy (ADDA) in Niger and the development of an additional curriculum module specific to the needs within the Sahel region.
